Captain Billy's Whiz Bang alterations

While the goal was to create a facsimile of the original edition of the February, 1922 Captain Billy's Whiz Bang, several practical adjustments had to be made, primarily with the cover.

  • The original cover was printed on a much rougher stock, which our printer did not use.
  • The original pricing information (which was 25 cents) was removed from the front cover, to avoid pricing confusion.
  • The original edition was "saddle stitched" (staple-bound) and did not have a spine. A spine was added to this edition so that it could be shelved in bookstores and libraries.
  • Captain Billy's backThe back cover was heavily reworked to include the pricing information, UPC code, and a description of the product. You can see the original back cover on this page.
  • Nothing was removed from the interior covers or the interior text. Reprint publication information was added below the original publication information and elsewhere. A disclaimer was added to the ad on the inside back cover to indicate that the offer was no longer available.
